“The amazing part is that the trick is in changing the perspective one has. It’s a lot easier said than done, but I thank you and think you are wonderful for sticking to the task without halt.”
In order to realize our highest potential and level of fulfillment, whether in our professional or personal lives, we often need attention directed to specific challenges for a shorter period of time than with a coaching relationship. Consulting directs attention to specific challenges such as career search, managing stress, making change, more strategic thinking, and working more constructively within an organization.
As a collaborative consultant, I listen to my client’s experience and goals to develop an understanding of their goals and needs. We work together to confront the challenging issues to develop a joint solution. Building the client’s ownership of the solution provides the most durable, long-term result.
As a consultant, I work closely with my client to co-design a process to define goals and priorities and to identify habits, behaviors, thinking patterns, and concrete strategies that can be developed to realize them. I can help clients to:
• Identify personal characteristics which contribute to productive behaviors & monopolize on those.
• Identify personal characteristics which restrict optimal performance in change-making, leadership, or team roles.
• Increasing motivation through greater self-direction and self-development.
• Developing greater communication and empathy to better manage our own needs, the needs of co-workers, and the needs of the workplace.
The client and I will schedule a one-hour initial meeting to develop a plan to best reach those goals. We will decide what the best use of follow-up consulting time might be: scheduled meetings, phone, Facebook or e-mail contact. Typically a combination of these works well. A system of accountability is used such that the client feels a desire to meet her/his goals rather than feeling pressured into them.
Prior to this meeting, I ask that the client write a summary of their needs and how I can help as their consultant. Please e-mail these to me prior to our meeting so I can be familiar with you and your needs when we meet.
Consulting services are billed at $75 per hour, with $1 per mile travel fee. Payment is due at the start of our meeting time.
Collaborative consulting requires a commitment, – much like an athlete or musician aspiring to be the best in their pursuit. The more you commit to your consulting plan, the greater will be your rewards and success.
